Position Title: Gift Shop Supervisor

Responsible for the daily supervision of all aspects of the Gift Shops, and promoting excellent standards for guest service and satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Maintains appropriate staffing levels in the Gift Shops, by assisting with interviews, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and terminating Associates, as needed.
• Provides guest service related assistance in the Gift Shops, such as assisting guests with selection and/or purchases, handling exchanges, redeeming complimentary and giving direction to various areas of the property.
• Ensures that the work areas are neat, clean, and well stocked with supplies.
• Acts as a liaison between Gift Shop Associates and upper management.
• Utilizing effective communication skills, creatively resolving problems in the Gift Shops.
• Creatively resolves problems with guests, including complaints and inquiries.
• Assists the Gift Shop Manager in ordering and maintaining appropriate stock.
• Facilitates the flow of information throughout the Gift Shops, by attending regularly scheduled meetings.
• Ensures a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction in the Gift Shops is achieved and maintained.
• Inspects merchandise to ensure it is priced and displayed.
• Held accountable, to high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
• Assists Gift Shop clerks with tasks which they are having difficulty completing.
• Instills and removes cash register receipt tape and audits cash reports.
• Responsible for maintaining a consistent and regular attendance record.

Promotes the following within the department and among all Associates:
• Creates an atmosphere of FUN for all casino guests.
• Encourages mutual respect, dignity and integrity with all Associates, by setting positive examples.
• Instills an atmosphere that encourages Associates to share ideas, discuss concerns and resolve conflicts.
• Retains Associates through involvement in Associate Training and Development.
• Explains WHY we do things, in advance of doing them.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises the activities of all Gift Shop Associates on assigned shift.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
• One to three years’ retail experience required, preferably in a Casino or Hotel.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interprets documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or Associates of company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
